I don't know how common this is, but a couple of my cats will kick their hind legs like this when destroying a toy.

Kicking the hind legs like that? I seem to recall reading in some cat book somewhere that it's an instinctive motion. My cat does it, too (to catnip mice, hair scrunchies, and koosh balls).

It's a fighting/playing behaviour in cats to kick their hind legs. If they're on their backs, it a defensive way of clawing an enemy's belly. Playful cats do it a lot, though they usually keep their claws sheathed in my experience. =P
